Styles of Decision Making, part 1

Impulse. Dangerous, perhaps to follow. Not recommended for a smooth ride through life. There isn't always time to think things through, though. Squelching impulse at every turn shuts certain windows of opportunity.

So, what I'm saying is, maybe buying a plane ticket because it's cheap isn't the smartest thing in the world, but if I'd waited to think it over, the seats might no longer be there. So what if I feel a little pressed for time in this packing to move to Michigan, I probably would have waited til the last minute anyway.

And, if I'd followed an earlier impulse to buy that camera on sale I would be able to post a few pictures from Vancouver.

impulse is one way to wrangle, and it holds it own rewards...

this is intersting . . .

recently, i was having a conversation with someone about actions i took and decisions i made - many of which were instinctive (read: impulsive)

and they mentioned a Seinfeld episode where George decided not to follow any of his instricts and do the opposite - and things started working out brilliantly for him. Until it eventually fell apart - because it's a sitcom.

having said that - some of the best decisions i have made have been on impulse - some of the not very good ones as well - but some of the best.
